Bike, Run, Play at The MarkJun 05, 2019 Blog
It’s that time of year again: ditch the car, snub the subway, and get out on the multitude of bike lanes and jogging paths that Boston offers. And while you’re out there, why not dabble in a few outdoor activities? When you live in the Boston luxury condos at The Mark, you’re just a hop, skip, and a jump from some of the city’s most scenic routes and parks.
East Boston Greenway
It’s amazing what you can do with a set of old cargo and freight lines — plus a pinch of imagination. The East Boston Greenway wends its way through lush parkland, and when construction is completed, it is expected to stretch for 3.3 miles. During your jog or cycle ride, you can admire public art in the form of sculptures and murals. There are also plenty of benches and shady spots where you can pause for a breather. And, of course, you’ll find unique neighborhood spots like the Cunard Tavern if you’re seeking refreshment. Try to catch sight of a preserved freight car along the way — a reminder of the greenway’s industrial past.
Bremen Street Community Park
An 18-acre oasis near East Boston, Bremen Street Community Park has everything you require for a summer chill session. Sure, you can cycle, walk, or jog among the trees and pathways here. But there’s also the opportunity to relax with a picnic on the lawns; admire the statue of 19th century shipbuilder Donald McKay; allow your furry friend to let off steam in the half-acre dog park; or even grow your own vegetables in the community garden. Because it’s so close to the East Boston condos for sale at The Mark, this could be your regular hangout during the balmier months.
East Boston Memorial Park
For those who like to stay active, East Boston Memorial Park is a gem. Beat your personal best as you pace the well-paved pathways (and duck into a spray fountain to cool yourself down). If you’re feeling competitive, challenge your friends to a game of soccer on one of the grassy fields. The park also provides ample play and climbing equipment. A vigorous hour or two of exercise in East Boston Memorial Park, and all you’ll want to do afterward is crash at home in your waterfront condo.
Fishing on the waterfront is a popular sport at dusk in LoPresti Park. It’s the perfect opportunity to unwind after a hard day’s work while admiring this picturesque quarter of East Boston. The sight of skyscrapers glittering gold across the water is a spectacular sight — even more so if you take a kayak out. Other more high-octane activities are available, including soccer on the AstroTurf field and basketball on one of two floodlit courts. There’s not a chance you’ll tire of LoPresti Park.
