This Fall on the East Boston WaterfrontOct 18, 2018 Blog The Mark
When it comes to spending time outdoors in Boston, summer gets all the glory, with its long roster of summer festivals and outdoor activities. But when the dog days of summer are fading fast, the city begins to buzz with a subtle energy. Perhaps it’s the last gasp of warmth before the snow flies, or the changing leaves signaling that new chapters are just around the corner. Fall in Boston means beautiful crimson foliage and perfect crisp weather, and luckily for future residents of the luxury condos at The Mark, the East Boston waterfront is one of the city’s best-kept secrets for spending time outside during the colder seasons. Here are some of our favorite ways to soak up a splendid fall day in East Boston.
LoPresti Park | 33 Sumner Street
Imagine a sprawling view of the Boston skyline, obstructed only by the occasional picturesque sailboat passing through the choppy channel. The autumnal light infuses an energizing glow to the sky and water, and a salty breeze prompts you to pull on your softest sweater. This view is one of the best in the city, and it happens to be right on the East Boston waterfront at LoPresti Park. The park has plenty of seating, rolling green spaces, a modern playground, tennis courts, and basketball courts. The channel and skyline make for a dramatic background when snapping a few pictures with friends and family. And when you’re done with the photos, you can all go for a stroll along the Harborwalk.
ReelHouse | 6 New Street
East Boston is replete with spectacular views, but there’s also a lively restaurant scene to take advantage of, and nothing stokes your appetite like fresh air. After your stroll, you may want to check out ReelHouse, an upscale, yacht-themed seafood eatery with a patio that’s almost as sprawling as the views. In fact, the ambience is so dreamy that it brings to mind works of fiction; The Boston Globe described the scene as “a glamorous ocean liner straight out of an Agatha Christie mystery.” Of course, we recommend sitting outside while you watch the skyline begin to glow in the early evening. The menu includes seafood mainstays like the New England Style Clam Bake and Baked Atlantic Halibut, but it veers into more inventive territory, too, with intriguing items like the Kobe Beef and Foie Gras Dumplings and General Tso’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps. You’ll also find a well-curated selection of oysters and cocktails.
Outdoors at The Mark
You don’t have to look far to find a place to close out the night – the landscaped common area at The Mark is your personal playground. Steps from the Harborwalk, the shared outside spaces offer glittering views of the harbor and skyline. Pick up a bottle of your favorite wine and settle into the outdoor furniture. Feeling chilly? There are few things that say “fall” like a warming fire, so light up a fire pit and listen to the crackling. You may find yourself momentarily transported, but thankfully you don’t have to travel very far to get home.
